First Birthday

It's hard to believe that today is Mia's first birthday. A year ago today we got the phone call that would change our lives bring the most wonderful little person in the world into our family. Every day I am so grateful for Mia and what a joy she is in our lives. Every morning she wakes up happy and every night Lindsey tucks her contentedly into bed after their bedtime stories. At year one Mia can walk and talks a lot even though we don't always know what she is saying. She does say dog, grape, cheese, and turkey (notice a theme?) and tries to repeat almost anything you say. She likes playing with balls, dancing, going on walks around the park, visiting the library, and going to the museum. She is also really good at giving hugs and kisses. Today she got a chocolate chip muffin with a candle in it for breakfast (but wasn't interested in eating it!). We sang happy birthday to her at least 3 times. We gave her a new book, a beach ball, and a wooden pull-along-dog for her birthday. She spent most of the day with Meghan, her babysitter that she love, love, loves who comes 3 days a week while I'm at work. Tonight she had a cheese, spinach and chickpea quesadilla for dinner. She's become more picky about what she eats but the stranger the better it seems! We are trying to have her eat what we are eating. She's loving melons, grapes, cheese, and bread these days. Here are a few pictures from this special milestone in our lives.
